The Windows firewall has done it before, and will most likely do it again – cause errors! I just installed a Windows 2008 server to be used as a distribution point. When I deployed the first package i got this error in the distmgr.log file:

Fix the error

To fix the error I configured the Windows firewall to also allow WMI and vupti all the files were successfully copied to the distribution Point.
